I was pleased to attend the gala night held by the Filipino/Australian Association of Ballarat Inc. (FAABI) on 1 August to celebrate the group's 24th anniversary.

I am delighted that the Andrews Labor government is continuing to support the volunteer emergency services equipment program, otherwise known as VESEP, which was initiated by the Bracks government. In this last round of funding five Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigades in the Buninyong electorate will share in over $98 000 worth of support.
I am also pleased to add my comments in support of the Emergency Management (Control of Response Activities and Other Matters) Bill 2015. The bill deserves full bipartisan support from this house in its progression through the house.
This morning I want to talk about the great things happening in men's sheds across my electorate. Men's sheds can be very beneficial in bringing men together, and I have seen how they can reduce social isolation for many men by engaging them in activities of interest that involve them in their community.
Is it not amazing when you have listened to the members of the opposition who have spoken on this matter of public importance that they cannot deal with the issue in a factual manner and cannot explain why they would need until 30 November to review something that was made as a promise ahead of the last election by the government that was elected.
Dear, oh, dear! The member for Eildon started off very well. She recognised that Infrastructure Victoria was a very good idea. She recognised that there is a need to plan ahead. But then how she faded off so dismally as she progressed — very sad.
