VOLUNTEER SUPPORT PROGRAM NOW OPEN FOR LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES
State Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard today encouraged local volunteer emergency services organisations to apply for funding from the government’s 2015-16 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).
“Volunteers play a vital role as part of our local emergency services, protecting lives and property in the community,” Mr Howard said.
“These grants can assist with the purchase of operational equipment, vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft, trailers and support minor facility improvements.
“I strongly encourage all eligible local emergency services organisations to apply for funding from the program.
“The Andrews Labor Government is supporting those who protect us with access to the funding and equipment they need to carry out their roles and stay safe.”
The program will deliver up to $12.54 million across the state, offering grants up to a maximum of $100,000 to assist volunteer emergency service groups, when responding to emergencies such as fires, floods, heatwaves, storms, water rescues or related incidents.
