UPGRADES TO MAKE THE MIDLAND HIGHWAY SAFER

Motorists on the Midland Highway will get where they need to be sooner and more safely, with a $10 million upgrade included in the Victorian Budget 2016-17.

Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard today announced the Andrews Labor Government’s investment to create four new overtaking lanes between Bannockburn and Meredith along the Midland Highway.

These upgrades will make it safer for motorists, giving them the opportunity to safely overtake slower vehicles.

As well as improving safety, the upgrade will also increase efficiency and help boost productivity on this key freight route.

The Labor Government is committed to improving safety on Victoria’s regional roads with funding allocated through the Regional Overtaking Lane Initiative.

The initiative is another step towards achieving the Labor Government’s guaranteed $1 billion in funding to repair and upgrade regional roads.
