REVAMP TO MAKE BALLARAT STATION SAFER AND MORE ACCESSIBLE

Works have begun on a $700,000 revamp to improve safety and accessibility at Ballarat Station.

Member for Wendouree, Sharon Knight and Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard, said the works include platform upgrades, better lighting and refurbishment of the waiting room.

Platform 1 will be stripped and resurfaced with new asphalt and have new tactile markers installed. New lighting will also be put in and existing lighting upgraded inside and outside the station.

The station’s waiting room will receive a makeover, including a fresh coat of paint and a new public address system.

The works to the station will complement the $25 million redevelopment of Ballarat Station, which will pave the way for a 4 star hotel and convention centre, creating 140 local jobs.
