PEDESTRIAN SAFETY BOOST FOR BUNINYONG

The Andrews Labor Government is fulfilling its promise to build a pedestrian crossing in Buninyong by investing $350,000 to upgrade Warrenheip St in Buninyong as part of the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Luke Donnellan joined Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard today to announce the project.

The funding will see the construction of a signalised pedestrian crossing on Warrenheip Street.

The completion of the crossing will ensure a safe crossing for children, the elderly and people with disabilities travelling to and from the local shopping strip.

Alongside a major boost in pedestrian safety, the crossing will provide an improved connection to existing recreational facilities including bike paths and sporting grounds.

Residents will be able to have their say on the location of the crossing during community consultation which will begin in the coming months.

Work on the project is due to start in early 2016.
