NEW TRAILER TO HELP PROTECT BUNINYONG FROM UNWELCOME GRAFFITI

Buninyong can now clean up graffiti vandalism fast, with a new graffiti removal trailer made possible thanks to a Victorian Government grant.

While visiting the Buninyong Village Market yesterday Geoff Howard launched the new trailer that will be owned and managed by the Buninyong District Community Association and the Buninyong Men’s Shed.

“Tagging and unsolicited graffiti is an unwelcome cost to local residents and traders, while also impacting the community’s sense of safety,” Mr Howard said.

“Thanks to a $16,000 Victorian Government grant, Buninyong and the surrounding townships now have a purpose-built graffiti removal trailer which will enable the rapid removal of graffiti vandalism – helping to maintain our unique village atmosphere.

“Rapid removal of graffiti tends to discourage further vandalism as it reduces the impact of the graffiti.

“Local volunteers are now being trained on the safe use of the trailer through the City of Ballarat. With the local community able to access this trailer, graffiti in Buninyong will be managed and removed in a more effective and timely manner.

“I’d like to congratulate Ballarat City Council, Buninyong and District Community Association and the Buninyong Men’s Shed for their efforts to help prevent and remove unwelcome graffiti from our community.”
