NEW REGIONAL RAIL LINK TIMETABLE STARTS SUNDAY
State Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard visited Ballarat Train Station this morning to celebrate the completion of the Regional Rail Link project and new timetables that commence next week.
“From Sunday, regional commuters will be able to reap the benefits of more frequent, faster and reliable services to and from Melbourne,” Mr Howard said.
“To allow for extra services to be introduced, the entire timetable been updated. I urge all travellers to check the new timetable before heading off to the station.
“The completion of Labor’s $3.65 billion Regional Rail Link project is a big win for Ballarat, Ballan and Bacchus Marsh commuters, who will have extra trains in peak times, when they need it most.”
The Andrews Labor Government is also undertaking the first Regional Network Development Plan that will set out priorities for regional public transport services, infrastructure and investment over the short, medium and long-term.
“To ensure that the community has an opportunity to have their say we will host consultations with local communities and councils over the coming months.
“This consultation will form a critical part of the development of the Regional Network Development Plan – that will inform future timetabling and priorities for the regional rail network.
“Labor’s investment in new rolling stock, infrastructure and forward planning will further bridge the gap between our cities and the regions by delivering new trains, more capacity and better rail services for local commuters.”
