Additional car parking will be added to the multi-story carpark to be constructed within the Ballarat Station Precinct following the recent state budget.

The inclusion of a third level on the multi storey carpark will add space for an additional 135 cars within the commuter carpark.

This increase will make 405 free carparks available to commuters within the redeveloped Ballarat Station Precinct.

The original plans always had the capacity for an additional car parking level and now we’re delivering.

Safety of the carpark has also been considered with CCTV and lighting throughout the carpark.

The 2017-18 budget also provides $5 million for a bus interchange in the station precinct for V/Line and local buses.

Together with the soon to be upgraded heritage Goods Shed, a Quest Apartment Hotel, shops, restaurants and a new public plaza, this will make Ballarat Station Precinct a better place for everyone.

Quotes attributable to Member for Wendouree, Sharon Knight:

“An expanded carpark will allow more people to park closer to the station and is in addition to other commuter parking available nearby.”

“This expansion cements the station’s place as our city’s transport hub and will make it even easier for people to get onto a train or even a V/Line bus.”

Quotes attributable to Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard:

“Along with a new bus interchange on the station precinct this additional car parking will make it even easier for people to access the Ballarat Railway Station.”

“This is one of the many budget announcements that Ballarat has benefited from. The Andrew’s Labor Government is looking after regional cities.”
