LOCAL CRICKET CLUBS BOWLED OVER WITH NEW GRANT
Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard today visited Buninyong Cricket Club to announce that along with Mount Clear Cricket Club, they will share in over $7,000 to upgrade facilities.
“With growing numbers of juniors, women and girls signing up to play grassroots sport, it’s important that people have access to world-class facilities,” Mr Howard said.
“I’m pleased to announce a grant of $5,000 for Buninyong Cricket Club to replace and upgrade the turf wicket.
“A further $2,356 will go to Mount Clear Cricket Club for the purchase a pitch roller and bowling machine.
“These grants will help our local cricket clubs grow by encouraging even more young cricketers to get involved and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.
“Community sport at the grassroots level plays an important role in increasing physical activity and helping communities stay connected.”
These projects have been funded from the Victorian Government’s Club Capacity and Workforce Development Grants program.
This program will deliver $800,000 over four years to help clubs undertake minor facility upgrades, buy equipment or run programs that build the base of players, coaches, umpires and volunteers.
