Linton CFA will be better equipped to fight fire and protect the local community with a new $650,000 station officially opened today.

Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard represented the Minister for Emergency Services, Jane Garrett to officially open the station.

“Linton Fire Brigade has a proud history that stretches back over a century to when it was founded in 1885,” Mr Howard said.

“This new facility replaces a 76-year-old building, providing Linton CFA members with the equipment they need to respond quickly and effectively to incidents.

“I’d like to congratulate all 89 members of the brigade who worked tirelessly to make the transition to the new station as smooth as possible, working long hours to get it ready.

“CFA members play a vital role as part of our local emergency services, protecting lives and property in the local community.

“After an early start to the fire season and with summer fast approaching, it’s important that people do their bit by getting fire ready.”
