LABOR TO SAVE NAPOLEONS FROM LIBERAL BULLDOZER
Labor Candidate for Buninyong, Geoff Howard, met with Napoleons School Council President, Joanne Gilbert and other parents and friends of the school to make the announcement.
Denis Napthine plans to remove Napoleons Primary’s library and art room and give the building to another school, leaving remaining classrooms exposed to the weather and a large bill to have them enclosed and the school re-landscaped.
Quotes attributable to Mr Andrews
“Denis Napthine wants to rip this great little school apart.”
“A Labor Government will cancel this harebrained scheme.”
Quotes attributable to Mr Howard
“It’s a school, not a Lego set.”
“Local kids have learnt how to read in this building. It has been built into the school structure and belongs to Napoleons Primary and under Labor, it will stay.”
“Daniel Andrews has met with Napoleons parents and heard their concerns, because he cares about our schools.”
• The building was first built as a portable classroom but has since been fully integrated into existing Napoleons school buildings, as part of the new Napoleons school built in the first term of the former Bracks Labor government.
• Media report that it would cost $90,000 to fix the damage to the school caused by demolition and removal.
