The Andrews Labor Government is improving early childhood services in Mount Pleasant, with work starting on the exciting Mount Pleasant Kindergarten.

Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard today turned the first sod of the $750,000 upgrade which will increase capacity at the kindergarten and improve its facilities.

This includes the addition of a second kindergarten room, which will double the number of kindergarten places from 33 to 66 when the project is complete. It will include expanded bathroom facilities, a new entrance area and increased storage space.

Construction is expected to finish late next year.

The Government is delivering a record $70 million to build, expand and upgrade kinders across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens.

Mount Pleasant families will also benefit from the Government’s $202 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan, announced in the Victorian Budget 2017/18.

This ground-breaking reform plan recognises the importance of providing families with strong support in early childhood, so kids are ready for kinder, ready for school and ready for life.

It will mean local parents can access improved parenting support and Maternal and Child Health Services, as well as higher quality and more inclusive kindergartens.
