COMMUNITY HOUSE CONTINUES TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR BALLAN
State Labor MP, Geoff Howard joined Moorabool Mayor, Paul Tatchell at Ballan & District Community House to meet with volunteers and members of the local Men’s Shed.
“Ballan & District Community House offer a range of fantastic courses and activities in the local community, enabling people to develop important skills and create new friendships,” Mr Howard said.
“People can sign up for arts and crafts, cooking, fitness and computer classes – delivered by friendly staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing opportunities for the Ballan community.
“I’ve watched the Community House go from strength to strength and was proud to secure funding from the former Labor government to upgrade the Mechanics’ Institute building that’s now its home.
“It’s pleasing to see that so many groups are now operating out of the centre including the Men’s Shed which reduces social isolation for mature aged men by engaging them in activities of interest that involve them in the community.
Mr Howard also discussed with Mayor Paul Tatchell possible sites for a future secondary school in Ballan.
“Clearly there is strong demand to evaluate secondary school options for Ballan and if Labor is elected on November 29, I will work with the community to get that job underway.” Mr Howard concluded.
