Australian Bureau of Statistics Figures Reveal a Youth Unemployment Crisis in the Ballarat Region

Ballarat has a 17.4% youth unemployment rate (15-24 year olds) under the
Napthine Government, increasing from 5.8% in 2010 when the Napthine Liberal
National Coalition took power.

There are now more unemployed young people in the Ballarat region, but
Denis Napthine still hasn’t released a jobs plan.

These staggering figures are a direct result of the Napthine
Government’s savage cuts to TAFE, VCAL and VET programs for training and
education as well as other mean spirited cuts to youth employment and
engagement services.

The mean spirited cuts by Dennis Napthine and his Coalition Government
have cut the rungs of opportunity out from under young people in Regional
Victoria.

“Under Denis Napthine, no job is safe.”

“Denis Napthine is too busy holding together his dysfunctional
Government than worrying about the real employment problems in Central Victoria.”

“These staggering figures are a direct result of the Napthine
Government’s savage cuts to TAFE, VCAL and VET programs for training and
education as well as other mean spirited cuts to youth employment and
engagement services.”

Mr Howard said Labor’s Project 10,000 will invest $2
billion in Regional and Metropolitan roads and create 10,000 new jobs across
Victoria.

Labor’s Plan for Jobs and Growth
will see more investment in job-creating projects for communities throughout
Victoria.
