$16,000 ANNOUNCED FOR BALLARAT’S FEAST OF SLOW MUSIC

Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley, today announced a $16,000 grant for Ballarat’s Festival of Slow Music to deliver a world premiere performance.

Speaking at the festival’s program launch at the Ballarat Observatory, Mr Foley announced Creative Victoria’s support for the world premiere of a Concert for Piano and Toy Band – a collaboration between renowned Australian pianist Michael Kieran Harvey and musician and festival director Adam Simmons.

The 2015 Ballarat Festival of Slow Music will be held over nine days in late August. It offers a broad program of events with music across all genres performed in intimate and unusual spaces across Ballarat.

This year’s festival program includes a host of unique opportunities to experience music in a different way, from an overnight event at the observatory to an art bus crawl.

The Minister congratulated the Festival Board and Adam Simmons, the Artistic Director, on another great program and said that the festival was one of Australia’s stand out niche music events.

The 2015 festival runs from 22-30 August.
